We had a picnic at the National Aboretum in Canberra on a beautiful crispy spring day. This sculpture ‘Nest III‘ by Richard Moffatt is mostly made from recycled farm machinery.
I stroll down St Edmunds Rd a few times each week, but normally I walk on the other side of the road. Sometimes a different perspective can really open your eyes, as today I saw RTIST gallery in its full glory.
Now I just have to head inside.
The Heide Museum of Modern Art is somewhere I’d been harbouring a secret desire to visit. We didn’t get the full day there (Amelia tends to slow us up) but what we did see was awesome, and it deserves multiple viewings. I loved the Ken Whisson: As If exhibition that we were lucky to catch on its final day.
The museum is set on six-hectares with a fantastic sculpture garden. I snapped this pic of of children playing on Inge King’s “Rings of Saturn” (2005-6).
This pumped up Muscle Boy is a sculpture by local artist David Bromley.
