July 23, 2012 – Cumquat shadows
There’s some play on the light with our cumquat tree against the house. I like watching the changing shadows as the day progresses.
July 22, 2012 – Skater at St Kilda
Another gorgeous day in Melbourne so we went strolling down at St Kilda. This guy thought it was a good day to skate.
May 27, 2012 – Mailboxes
This collection of country mailboxes caught my eye near the cottage we stayed in for the weekend. Highly recommend Buttercup Cottage in Merrijig, it’s the best B&B I’ve ever had the pleasure of laying my head.
May 22, 2012 – Amelia in shadow
Autumn sun streaming
what do you see in the dark?
small curious face
It’s been maybe 20 years since I wrote a Haiku so I had to look it up. 5,7,5 yeah?
May 12, 2012 – Suburban sky
This sunset was taken from the car while in Sydney over the weekend. I like the angles of the rooves and the blurry quality of the tree that frames the shot.
May 8, 2012 – Leaves on the footpath
Today was a bright sunny day so I captured many shots of the light creating shapes around me with shadows.
April 29, 2012 – Shadows at the shops
We went to Chadstone yesterday to upgrade my MacBook Pro to Lion. So I had a bit of time to kill whilst tethered to the computer at the Apple store.
I wondered how many different shots I could take standing in the one spot. I came up with a series of interesting shadows, some shots of the sky through the roof and some awful shots inside the store with their nasty fluro lighting.
I really like the shapes and colours these shadows have made. Definitely the pick of the day.
April 23, 2012 – Autumn leaves on the ground
Such an autumn day today – very crisp! The leaves were all over the path and were being scattered by the wind continually as I snapped this shot.
April 22, 2012 – Rower on the lake
We went for a walk down to Albert Park today. There is a storm brewing in the background and I love the silhouette of the rower in the patch of reflected sunlight.
April 21, 2012 – Brighton beach huts
We paid a visit to Brighton beach – the one in Melbourne – on Saturday. These gorgeous beach huts are sprinkled throughout the Port Phillip bay area but Brighton beach is home to the only beach huts within Melbourne. These bathing boxes are more than 100 years old (the earliest dates from 1862) and show the prudish morality of Victorian times. These stationary boxes were an evolution of the bathing machine (which sounds hilarious!)
March 30, 2012 – Sun through the trees
I’m not religious, but I read once that rays of sunlight, like this (and also through the clouds) are “fingers of god”, I think this is a wonderful sentiment and no matter which god you have faith in, the idea that sunlight contains a spiritual force really resonates with me.
The fingers of god touched down at Noosa’s main beach boardwalk.
March 29, 2012 – Sunset
The beginning of a beautiful sunset over the lagoon at Twin Waters.
The sun pops out from behind rain clouds a few times each day, lucky for me, the clouds parted at the perfect moment.
March 4, 2012 – Sky
Up early on Sunday morning to see manžel run in the BRW Triathlon in Elwood. After a couple of days of rain it was gorgeous as the sun broke through.
February 23, 2012 – Young tree
The foliage is just turning brown on the outer edges and the conquers are also looking ready to drop.
The effect of the sun in this shot is powerful. Melbourne’s summer has given us a sweet supply of days with brilliant sunshine that I’ve been able to amble about in.
